This was the second lunchtime lecture of the year. This lecture had a focus on history as well as on art. I hadn't realized that the VMFA had such a large collection of Fabregé pieces and it was interesting learning who they obtained these pieces from. I loved seeing the pictures of all the pieces and being able to see how intricate and detailed they were. Their craftsmanship was excellent and their designs really exude the sense of royalty and a lavish lifestyle. The estimated value for the works now is insane, I didn't realize how in demand they were. I was surprised by the immense number of pieces as well and how they are all unique. This lecture was interesting and very educational and it makes me want to go and look at Fabregé pieces somewhere.
